Congratulations to our five-a-side football team who narrowly clinched the title of ‘business league champions’ at powerleague in Aston. The team had battled hard over the long and arduous 10 match season.

Sharkeys were undefeated and 3 points clear at the top of the table going into the final game. The team knew it would be a crunch game as the opposition were in second position and had only narrowly defeated them first time round. A full strength squad was selected for the final game with a number of key players returning from injury. Sharkeys battled hard all game but an unconvincing performance in the second half saw the team go down 7 – 5. It was a bitter blow as the team had to face up to the reality of defeat for the first time all season.

There was some doubt as to whether the team had done enough to clinch the title on goal difference and it was a nervous walk back to powerleague headquarters. After some detailed talks with powerleague officials it was formally made public that Sharkeys had won the league on goal difference by only one goal.
